MAPACHE was born in 2010 after I finished my Graphic Design career at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, Spain.
I started designing ceramic products in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco , where the family workshop of the Padilla is located, where the tradition of pottery began over 60 years ago.
MAPACHE hats are born from my first trip to Tulum, before getting on the plane I remembered that I was not wearing anything to cover myself from the sun, I had a straw hat and when I took it out of my closet I found a woven belt that my brother brought me from a road-trip through Mexico.
Since I arrived, people kept asking about my hat and my friends began to place their orders, so I began to get more involved with the crafts that Mexican hands can achieve.
Each hat is very special, made and painted by hand. The ribbons that decorate it are woven by a group of indigenous women from Chiapas.
